Vietnam's recently-appointed president yesterday had his first
official meetings in Cambodia in his new role, meeting with Prime
Minister Hun Sen, King Norodom Sihamoni and the heads of the National
Assembly and Senate.
Tran Dai Quang, appointed president in April, arrived on Tuesday night after visiting leaders in Laos and is in Cambodia for two days.
Following the closed-door meeting with Hun Sen at the Peace Palace, Eang Sophalleth, a spokesman for the premier, told reporters Hun Sen requested further cooperation in the fields of rescue operations, water cooperation along the border and access to cheap health care in Vietnam.
Quang has previously worked closely with the Cambodian government in his previous role as the head of Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security.
