A consequence of this lack of cultural interest is that Khmers in groups have other Khmers as their main subject of conversation. They quickly move to scandalmongering, backstabbing, and calumny, and these lead to disputes and the impossibility of uniting.
As one Khmer, it is a lot to digest here, again...
