The fatal crash took place at 3:30 pm (local time) on the
National Road 5 in Mong Russei district when the front tire of the
speeding passenger bus exploded and swerved to hit the crane truck
coming from an opposite direction, said Sath Kimsan, chief of the
traffic police in Battambang province.
“Eight people, including the drivers of the two vehicles, were killed
on the spot and about 25 others on the bus were injured in the crash,”
he told Xinhua.
The injured people have been sent to nearby clinics and hospitals where several of them are in critical condition, he added.
Road accidents are a leading cause of death in the Southeast Asian
country of Cambodia, killing an average of six people per day. According
to a government’s report, road crashes killed 2,265 people last year,
up 5 percent year-on-year.
Here is a safety advice: If your front tire blows out don't hit the brakes, rather speed up to keep the vehicle under control and let deceleration bring the car to a stop. Same apply to big trucks more so do to weight matter.
