Cambodia cancels US Seabees aid programme
IHS Jane's Defence Weekly | 6 April 2017
Cambodia's government has scrapped a US aid programme undertaken by a US Navy unit in what appears to be the latest setback for US-Cambodian ties at a time when Phnom Penh is stepping up military co-operation with other countries, particularly China.
On 3 April the US Embassy in Phnom Penh said on its Facebook page that the US Navy Mobile Construction Battalion - better known as Seabees - would be departing Cambodia after a nine-year-long humanitarian assistance mission.
"The Royal Government of Cambodia notified the embassy of its decision to postpone indefinitely the Seabees programme. This decision cancels 20 planned projects, including maternity wards and school bathrooms in Takeo, Kampot, Tbong Khmum, and Kampong Cham," said the embassy in a statement.
Seabees clearly failed to name those projects and buildings after the honorific title and name of the Viceroy indeed !
ReplyDeleteNow,for the American Universities in Phnom Penh. You better not to forget inviting the lord to give speech at the graduation ceremonies, otherwise yours programs are substandard for the Kingdom of bewilderment!
His speech needs to be in English language though !
