As musicians horrified and saddened by the level of violence being inflicted upon protestors in Cambodia we sing the sentiments of "freedom" with this cover of Richie Havens' Woodstock classic.
At 11:30 a.m. Saturday January 4, security guards, men in plainclothes and municipal police, all wielding steel bars and metal pipes, forcibly cleared hundreds of demonstrators from Phnom Penh’s Freedom Park. This follows a week or violence where at least 5 people were shot dead by police at a garment factory workers protest in Phnom Penh. . Recorded by Jay Thorpe at Barking Ghecko.
Freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child
A long way from my home
Freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom
Sometimes I feel like Im almost gone
Sometimes I feel like Im almost gone
Sometimes I feel like Im almost gone
A long, long, long, way, way from my home
Clap your hands, clap your hands
Clap your hands, clap your hands
Clap your hands, clap your hands
Clap your hands, clap your hands
Hey, yeah
I got a telephone in my bosom
And I can call him up from my heart
I got a telephone in my bosom
And I can call him up from my heart
When I need my brother, brother
When I need my mother, mother
Hey, yeah
