VLADIVOSTOK,
September 4, 2014 (RIA Novosti) - A crew member of the Poline vessel, which
overturned in the Sea of Japan, has died and another is missing, though
the rest of the boat’s crew have been rescued, Vladimir Pisklov, an aide
to the head of Russia’s far eastern Primorsky Territory seaports
administration told RIA Novosti Thursday.
“The second officer – one of the crew members initially recovered by
rescuers – has died. The search of the chief officer is still ongoing,”
the official said.
Pisklov added he had no information whether the vessel had sunk.
The cargo vessel sailing under the flag of Cambodia overturned near
North Korea due to a heavy storm. It was transporting a freight of
timber from one of Russia’s far eastern ports to China. The ship had a
crew of 10 Russians and one Ukrainian.
