Vietnam requests Cambodia to stop "wrongful actions of protesters": spokesperson

HANOI,
Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam foreign ministry spokesperson on Thursday
requests the Cambodian administration to "take effective measures to
stop those wrongful actions of protesters, which are not in line with
the traditional friendship and sound relationship between Vietnam and
Cambodia."
Le Hai Binh, spokesperson of
Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks at a regular
press briefing held in Vietnam's capital Hanoi.
The statement was made in responding to reporter's inquiry over Vietnam's reaction to protests against Vietnam in Cambodia and the information that Khmer Krom activists are set to stage another protest against Vietnam in October.
Last month, hundreds of
ethnic Khmer Krom monks and activists staged several protests and burned
a Vietnamese flag in front of the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh
after an embassy spokesman commented that South Vietnam, or former
Kampuchea Krom provinces, belonged to Vietnam long before colonial
France's official transfer of the land in 1949.
