Proverbs 5

ត្រូវ​ ប្រយ័ត្ន​ នឹង​ស្ត្រី​ ដែល​ក្បត់​ប្ដី 

កូន​ អើយ, ​ចូរ​ យក​ចិត្ត​ទុក​ដាក់ ​នឹង​ប្រាជ្ញា​ របស់​ឪពុក,

ហើយ​ ចាប់​អារម្មណ៍ ​នឹង​តម្រិះ​ របស់​ឪពុក ​ដែរ,

ដើម្បី​ ឲ្យ​កូន​ស្គាល់ ​ការ​រិះគិត

និង​ការ​ និយាយ​ស្ដី ​ដឹង​ខុស​ត្រូវ។ 

ធម្មតា ​ស្ត្រី​ក្បត់​ប្ដី ​តែងតែ​ និយាយ​មាយា ​ផ្អែម ​ដូច​ទឹក​ឃ្មុំ, ហើយ ​មាត់​រអិល ​ដូច​ប្រេង,

តែ ​តាម​ពិត ​ស្ត្រី​នោះ​ ប្រៀប​បាន ​នឹង​ផ្លែ​ស្លែង​

ដែល​មាន​ជាតិ ​ល្វីង, ហើយ​ មុត ​ដូច​ដាវ ​មុខ​ពីរ។ 

ស្ត្រី​ប្រភេទ​នេះ​ បណ្ដាល​ ឲ្យ​អ្នក ​ត្រូវ​ស្លាប់,

ដ្បិត​ ផ្លូវ​ របស់​គេ​ តម្រង់ ​ទៅ​រក ​មច្ចុរាជ។ 

ផ្លូវ​ របស់​ ស្ត្រី​នេះ ​មិន​នាំ​ ទៅ​កាន់​ជីវិត ​ទេ,

តែ​ នាំ​ឲ្យ​គេ ​វង្វេង​ ដោយ​មិន​ដឹង​ខ្លួន។ 

Warning Against Adultery

5 My son, pay attention to my wisdom,
    turn your ear to my words of insight,
² that you may maintain discretion
    and your lips may preserve knowledge.
³ For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey,
    and her speech is smoother than oil;
⁴ but in the end she is bitter as gall,
    sharp as a double-edged sword.
⁵ Her feet go down to death;
    her steps lead straight to the grave.
⁶ She gives no thought to the way of life;
    her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.

“sayings of the wise.”... Solomon’s ability to produce proverbs is specified in 1Ki 4:32, where 3,000 proverbs are attributed to him. Coupled with statements about his unparalleled wisdom...

If Solomon is granted a prominent role in the book, most of Proverbs would stem from the tenth century b.c. [before Christ] during the time of Israel’s united kingdom. The peace and prosperity that characterized that era accord well with the development of reflective wisdom and the production of literary works...

Purpose and Teaching

...According to the prologue (1:1–7), Proverbs was written to give “prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young” (1:4), and to make the wise even wiser (1:5). ...

In any event, the concluding epitomizing of wisdom in the wife of noble character forms a literary frame with the opening discourses, wherewisdom is personified as a woman.
