French
minister Annick Girardin has shunned the conventions of political
office - by boldly attending diplomatic meetings with Cambodian
officials in a low cut dress and cardigan.
Not
content with formal attire, the minister of state for development and
francophony surprised everyone when she appeared for political
discussions in the revealing outfit.
And
if her clothes left little to the imagination, so did her negotiating
acumen - she has finalised and signed off the details of £70 million
worth of financing agreements and development projects.
During her visit to Phnom Penh, the capital of the former French colony, she visited a flood management centre and hydro-meterological station, both based on the famed Mekong River.

While
there she also signed agreements for £70 million worth of financing for
social and economic development projects in the South East Asian
country.
Other
visits on her official itinerary included meetings with the French NGO,
Enfants d’Asie, and a trip to Phnom Penh’s central market, which was
recently renovated thanks to French development agency funding.

posted on her official Twitter account show her meeting with Cambodian
French-speaking medical students and other local workers during the

Girardin
was promoted to a minister in Manuel Valls cabinet in April last year
after spending more than a decade serving councils and other political
positions.
As
part of her role, the minister oversees development aid being
distributed throughout the world. She recently signed off £120 million
in aid to Lebanon, which is currently in the throes of a refugee crisis
stemming from the conflict in neighbouring Syria.
