Vietnam Party chief meets Cambodian Senate president in Hanoi

Cambodian Senate President Samdech Say Chhum and his high-level
delegation were welcomed by Vietnamese Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong at
the Party Headquarters in Hanoi on Wednesday.
President Chhum, who is also the vice president of the Cambodian
People’s Party, was joyful to have made a visit back to Vietnam after
assuming his position of president of the Cambodian Senate, according to
the Vietnam News Agency.
The Senate president also expressed his sincere appreciation for all
the help and support of Vietnam in Cambodia’s mission for unification
and independence as well as national development.
Cambodia considers its friendship with Vietnam to be unbreakable and
pledged to preserve and foster the traditional ties and comprehensive
partnership between the two nations, the news agency quoted President
Chhum as saying.
The Cambodian Senate leader spoke of the results of his talk with Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung and asserted that the upper house will continue to implement the agreements signed between the two parties.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong
believes that Cambodia will achieve more on its development path under
the righteous leadership of King Norodom Sihamoni, the Cambodian Senate,
Parliament and the government.
He also urged the legislative bodies of the two countries to continue their cooperation and exchange of knowledge.
Vietnam has always considered the enhancement of ties with Cambodia one
of its top priorities to ensure the interests and prosperity of both
peoples, General Secretary Trong said.
The Vietnamese Party chief updated the Cambodian leader on some
important issues related to the preparation of the country’s coming
Party Congress.
Aside from the event, President Chhum also engaged in talks with
Vietnamese State President Truong Tan Sang and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan
Dung on Wednesday.
