Grass cutters of Takeo

Migrant workers from Takeo. A new truckload of 20 workers looking for tall grass to cut. They make money by selling to trucking company that transported them here by selling to company each bundle for 500 riels (12 pennies).

Each person can make between 15,000 riels (US$3.50) to 30,000 ($7.50) a day depending on availability of grass and endurance of worker (elderly women or men); they left their village in Takeo province at 4 o'clock this morning.

5-6 are here across the dirt road from our orchard in the cornfields. The truck dropped off the rest in other nearby locations and will pick them all up again to return to Takeo later this afternoon.

Yesterday a group of 5-7 workers asked to cut grass in our orchard; we pay them nothing. They're paid in the amount of grass they cut.

However orchards with mangoes in season do not allow them in.

"However orchards with mangoes in season do not allow them in."

You know what will happen to the mangoes if those poors are in the orchards right? Oh man, Cambodia is so poor.
