HCMC police seize over one tons of smuggled ivory

Ho Chi Minh City police from the department of smuggling prevention (C74) under the Ministry of Public Security discovered about 700 kilograms of ivory (photo) hidden in two containers, which were declared as carrying wood, at the Cat Lai Port in district 2 on October 26.
The police in coordination with the port Customs officers and border guards detected the batch of ivory which allegedly imported from Kenya and transitted via Vietnam before entering Cambodia.

However, the batch was confisticated in Vietnam’s Cat Lai Port. The owner of the batch is a company having its headquarter in Cambodia.
The ivories were hidden in hollow wooden pieces.
