When the Vikings settled in Normandy, they eventually became French and blended in with the local. William from Normandy, conquered Britain and became William the Conqueror. Britain then included Normandy and the British isle, as well as the Channel islands.
ReplyDeleteLater on France push out the British from the continent, took over Normandy after the Hundred Year war. But Britain always retained the Channel Island, a few miles off the coast of France and a hundred miles off England.
So, France's current Normandy belonged to Britain, historically.

The same thing happened to the Greek islands in Aegean sea. Greeks used to settle in the Western part of Turkey thousand of years ago. Then the Turkic people from central Asia came, pushed the Greeks out of the Western part of Turkey today. But they could not take the Greek islands in the Aegean sea even the islands are only a few miles off Turkey's Western coast.

The same thing happened to Koh Tral and Bokor. A couple hundred years ago, Chinese Ming came to the Ha Tien and Bokor region to settle. The land then was under control of the Chinese General and Stateman Mac Cuu.
Then Mac Cuu's children could not fend off the Thais, they submitted to Vietnam for protection. The land became part of Vietnam.
But France wrongfully drew the map to include Bokor as part of Cambodia. Bokor should be part of Koh Tral and Hatien of Vietnam. Bokor historically belonged to the Chinese Ming so technically, it belonged to Vietnam.
I am surprised Vietnam did not demand Bokor territory. I guess the Vietnamese are good folks. They did not want to antagonize the angry Khmers. I think the Vietnamese got really bored at crushing the Khmers. It's not fun when you have to crush the Khmers.
The ultimate victory is to make the Khmers to submit to you in peace. And that's what the Vietnamese thought they could do by saving the Khmer race from Khmer Rouges.
But the Vietnamese were wrong. Khmer race quickly betrayed them. Had the Vietnamese known that, perhaps they should let Khmer Rouges to completely cripple the Khmer race to the point of no return.
Well, look at the effect today, Khmer race is so crippled, stunned, malnourished, deformed, blown up in pieces, lost limbs, blind, crippled, weak, angry, wrought with mental illness, fraught with infantile behavior, so on and so on....
