PM defends choice of language

Prime Minister Hun Sen has dismissed suggestions he is a “puppet of Vietnam” after he spoke some Vietnamese during yesterday’s inauguration ceremony for the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Bridge.
During the event, also attended by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Mr. Hun Sen spoke Vietnamese for about two minutes, translating his own words as he talked about his government’s achievements.
He said he was only speaking in Vietnamese because he feared his message about the government’s success in transforming a country ravaged by war into a developing economy would be lost in translation.
“I didn’t hear I am a puppet of England or France when I spoke English and French in the past,” he said. “I hope people will not condemn me over speaking Vietnamese.”
Nevertheless, several political activists immediately took to Facebook to criticize the Prime Minister in the way he feared.
Mr. Hun Sen was condemned last year by a few Vietnamese Facebook users over Cambodia’s stance on the disputed territories in the South China Sea.
“Again, I want to reaffirm that I am not a Vietnamese puppet serving the benefits of Vietnam and I’m not the leader of Vietnam,” he said at the time. “Vietnam is not my boss.”
The Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Bridge, which links Chrey Thom district in Kandal province to Long Binh in Vietnam’s An Giang province, took two years to build at an estimated cost of $36 million.
Mr. Phuc, who is on a three-day official visit to Cambodia which ends tomorrow, said the bridge would enhance cooperation between the two countries.
The two men will hold extensive talks today, during which a number of cooperation agreements will be signed.
Traitor Hun,
ReplyDeleteYou too should have known just speaking Vietnamese doesn't make you a Yuon's puppet,
but your actions for the last thirty years prove
you sure are !!!
Mr. Hun Sen is showing off his language skill. That's all.

ReplyDeleteYour Samdach Ach Koar Hun Sen should have shown
instead his love and caring to his own compatriots.
Mr. Hun Sen loves his people. That's why he must protect Cambodia from CNRP's corruption. Look at him, he does not drive fancy luxury Lexus SUV like the CNPR politicians do. His son, drove a 10-year-old car, a 84-Honda-Accord during the 1990s at West Point.
DeleteHun Sen family is the honorable one and saves money for the people. CNRP is corrupt and dishonorable. That's my view.
Just like you have been trying so so hard to show off your language of prostitution 8:09 AM? Fortunately the entire world, Khmer included is no longer that naive!!!

ReplyDeleteFYI, after July 2018 your Samdach Ach Koar Hun Sen will need to find
a place to take refuge in hell hole Hanoi !!! ✊️⚔️☠️
