Cambodian PM congratulates French President-elect Macron on winning election

PHNOM PENH, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Monday congratulated Emmanuel Macron on his victory in the French presidential election.

"I'd like to express my congratulations to the French President-elect Macron on winning the election," he said in a public speech during an event marking the World Red Cross Day here.

Hun Sen expressed his confidence that the Cambodia-France relations would be further enhanced under Macron's leadership.

Centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron won Sunday's runoff vote of the French presidential election, defeating his far-right rival Marine Le Pen, according to polling agency projections issued after the vote.
