Vietnamese pair face life for meth trafficking
Khmer Times | 29 May 2017
Two Vietnamese men were yesterday arrested and charged in Prey Veng province for attempting to transport close to six kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine out of Cambodia.
Deputy provincial anti-drug police chief Long Chantha said the two suspects – Nguyen Van Young, 47, and his son Nguyen Van Phuoc, 20 – face life imprisonment due to the amount of drugs found in their possession.
They were charged for drug possession and trafficking.
“They attempted to smuggle drugs from Cambodia to Vietnam. They were arrested after police inspected and found many packages of drugs hidden in their bags,” Mr Chantha said.
Police found 999 ice tablets as well as five large packages of crystal methamphetamine, each weighing approximately one kilogramme.
