Vietnam strengthens ties with Laos and Cambodia

NDO – Vietnam consistently fosters solidarity, close bonds and comprehensive cooperation with the Lao Party, State, Government and people, aiming to further accelerate bilateral cooperative relations between the two countries, for the benefits of their peoples, thus contributing actively to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and around the world, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has stated.
Addressing a reception for Lao Minister of Public Security Somkeo Silavong in Hanoi on August 17, the PM warmly welcomed the Lao guest to officially visit Vietnam and attend exchange activities with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, on the occasion of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017.
He congratulated the Lao Party, Government and people on their significant achievements attained over the past few years, whilst affirming that Vietnam always treasures the fine sentiments and support offered by Laos towards Vietnam during the country’s past struggle for national independence and its current cause of national construction and development.
Vietnam values and wishes to strengthen the friendly relations and solidarity between the three Indochinese countries, including Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, he stated, hailing the Vietnam-Laos relations as being special, and rare in the world.
The PM suggested that the two public security forces must work together to thwart all plots by hostile forces to undermine the special Vietnam-Laos solidarity, calling for joint efforts to fight crime and build a shared borderline of peace, friendship, stability and comprehensive development.
Lao Minister of Public Security Somkeo Silavong stated that his visit held a special meaning, contributing to strengthening solidarity and friendship between the two countries as a whole, between the two public security forces in particular, and consolidating the friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam, Laos along with the nation of Cambodia as well.
He stated that the Lao public security force is actively working with the Vietnamese public security force in deploying celebration and exchange activities between the two countries., voicing his wish that the Vietnamese Government and PM would continue pushing ties between the two public security forces forward.
* Addressing another reception for Cambodian Deputy PM Cum Minister of Home Affairs, Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng on the same day, PM Phuc warmly welcomed the guest and members of the high-level Cambodian delegation, to visit Vietnam and participate in the exchange activities with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, on the special occasion of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2017.

The Vietnamese Party and Government always foster solidarity, and support the Cambodian Government and people, with the motto of “fine neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability”, aiming to constantly facilitate bilateral relations for the benefits of the two countries’ people, contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the region and around the world, he affirmed.
The PM spoke highly of the close and effective cooperation between public security forces of Vietnam and Cambodia in preventing and combating crimes, especially crimes related to national security, drugs, economic activities, cybercrimes and human trafficking.
He urged both sides to continue working closely in order to effectively implement agreements reached by senior leaders of the two nations on ensuring political security, and social order and safety in each country, to destroy any plots by hostile forces that damage the solidarity and friendship between the two countries, and to support each other at international multilateral forums on combating crimes.
PM Phuc suggested that both sides continue creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese and Cambodian nationals to settle down in each other’s country, whilst asking the Cambodian side to take proper measures to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese in Cambodia.

Cambodian Deputy PM Sar Kheng stated that his visit was part of the practical activities to mark 50 years of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties and 72 years of the traditional day of the Vietnam People’s Public Security Force, whilst also offering a good chance to strengthen the cooperative relations between the two nations and the two public security forces in particular.
Expressing his deep gratitude for the valuable assistance offered by the Vietnamese Party, Government and Ministry of Public Security for the Cambodian people, Deputy PM Sar Kheng affirmed that the Cambodian Government will facilitate the grant of papers to Vietnamese people living in Cambodia and create favorable conditions for children of Vietnamese people to pursue academic study.
On behalf of the Cambodian PM, Deputy PM Sar Kheng thanked the Vietnamese Government and PM for supporting Cambodia in constructing a detoxification and personality rehabilitation center.

    Cambodia and Laos must learn to be part of the supply chain with the neighboring countries or they will never be able to compete in the world.

    If their products cannot sell and must import from other countries, they will owe money from deficit then get forced to sell lands to pay up, the local people will be kicked around like a bunch of hobos.
