Cambodia's detained opposition leader rejects new opposition movement

PHNOM PENH (Reuters) - Cambodia’s detained opposition leader Kem Sokha has declined to join a new movement, founded by prominent exiles following a ban on the main opposition party, his lawyer said on Saturday.

The Cambodia National Rescue Movement (CNRM) was announced on July 13 by Prime Minister Hun Sen’s veteran foe Sam Rainsy following the dissolution of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) last year and the arrest of its leader, Kem Sokha.

Signs of division emerged among CNRP members over the CNRM, of which Sam Rainsy said could launch appeals to the people to organize peaceful protests, to workers to go on strike and to the armed forces to join them.

Kem Sokha’s lawyer Pheng Heng said on Saturday that the opposition leader had declined to join the CNRM, saying that he will continue to work under the CNRP.

“He said that he doesn’t join or support any movement and he’s still with the CNRP, of which more than three million people had voted for it in recent elections,” Pheng Heng told Reuters, quoting Kem Sokha when he visited him in prison on Friday.

Kem Sokha’s daughter Kem Monovithya said that it’s important not to get distracted from the CNRP.

“I continue to do what I have been doing under CNRP framework, in consultation with the imprisoned leader Kem Sokha, to advocate for free and fair elections in Cambodia,” Kem Monovithya said.

Sam Rainsy, who has lived in France since 2015 to avoid a series of convictions, didn’t respond to Reuters request for comment.

The CNRP was dissolved after the arrest of Kem Sokha, who was accused of plotting to take power with American help - charges he says were politically motivated because the threat the party posed to Hun Sen at this year’s election.

The dissolution of the party and arrest of Kem Sokha have been condemned by Western aid donors who have said the election cannot now be credible. Hun Sen, 65, is expected to win easily.

The CNRP was set up in 2012 to unify Sam Rainsy’s and Kem Sokha’s separate parties. Its success in a 2013 general election and local elections last year had shown what a powerful electoral force it had become.

Kem Sokha’s lawyer Pheng Heng said on Saturday that the opposition leader had declined to join the CNRM, saying that he will continue to work under the CNRP.
Ok, let see how Scam Rainsy would respond to that. I bet he would say this, "That's not true Kem Sokha's saying. He is under duress. I will continue to rescue him with the CNRM."

This reminds me of my own personal experience with South East Asians (not Cambodian, not Khmer). One day I was invited to hang out on Friday night out with a friend. His friends were throwing a surprise birth day for another dude in the group.

The dude proclaimed, "By tradition, the birthday boy is allowed to have one wish to come true." He wished to kiss this one very attractive girl on the lips. She giggled and declined. And that invited trouble.

The dude kept insisting and after 5 minutes of horse play, the evil of South East Asian guys started to reveal. They were surrounding the girl to assert the South Asian value and culture on her and started pressing her against the table.

Now, I was raised by the noble and superior German race. That's unacceptable to me. So I intervened. (The same way Vietnamese army came into Cambodia to rescue Cambodian women from Khmer Rouges.)

I told them, "Hey guys, that's enough, please stop. She is uncomfortable." Oh man, it invoked an explosion from these little South East Asian dudes. Thank God, the Germans raised me well; I was much bigger and have German superiority. I could easily put any South East Asian dude to sleep with one hit.

They accused me to be stupid and did not know a thing. So, I apologized them for making a presumption. And then asked the girl, "Miss, were you uncomfortable? Would you like them to stop?" That's a typical civilized and superior German would do for a damsel in distress.

But my German way was an insult to these South East Asian dudes. In the bible, there is a saying: When you tell the truth to sinners, they think you tell lie. When you do good deed in front of sinners, they think you insult them.

These South East Asians laughed at me and claimed something like this. (I would paraphrase to prove the point with Scam Rainsy.) They claim that the girl was under duress, and that's why she said yes. The truth was she wanted the guy to kiss her on the lips.

And they accused me to be many things, being threatening to the girl, pretend to be good, trying to steal her from them, not respecting their culture and their right. Believe me, I have been accused to be Hitler and a Nazi killer before too if these little Asians knew my background with the Germans.
There, you have it. Scam Rainsy will continue his CNRM by claiming Kem Sokha being under duress and ignore all calls to stay true to CNRP's unity and single path. Scam Rainsy wants to split and insert himself into relevancy again.

You should know well that you are Vietnamese who killed Cambodian people, robbed the lands and natural resources from Cambodian people under the puppet of Vietnam (Hun Sen), and keep going with lies. Now, you think Cambodian victims are bad people. How hypocrite you are.

To the above idiot, it's Sam Rainsy who started it first, he claimed to be the only one who can rescue Cambodia, not Kem Sokha, not Kem Ley, not anyone else.

Because of that, Kem Monovithia tweeted aggressively against Sam Rainsy.

The video was recorded from a hidden camera below the waste line. Normally when you record a video, you record at face level. The secret video was given to Sam Rainsy as the ace in his sleeve.

When Kem Sokha asked Hun Sen to help because Sam Rainsy was harassing him in CNRP, Sam Rainsy gave the secret video to Hun Sen and demanded Kem Sokha to be arrested. Hun Sen had no choice but to arrest Kem Sokha or else Sam Rainsy sue Hun Sen for harboring a traitor.

That ruined Hun Sen's plan since he had Kem Sokha in the pocket. If Kem Sokha would not challenge Hun Sen in 2018 election win. He is the ace in the sleeve for Hun Sen. But Sam Rainsy sacrificed Kem Sokha for the good of CNRP. For the good of CNRP, only Sam Rainsy can rescue Cambodia. You cannot have a snake with two heads.
