The Ides of March (Latin: Idus Martiae, Late Latin: Idus Martii)[1] is a day on the Roman calendar that corresponds to March 15. It was marked by several religious observances and was notable for the Romans as a deadline for settling debts[2]. In 44 BC, it became notorious as the date of the assassination of Julius Caesar. The death of Caesar made the Ides of March a turning point in Roman history, as one of the events that marked the transition from the historical period known as the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire.[3]
Although March (Martius) was the third month of the Julian calendar, in the oldest Roman calendar it was the first month of the year. The holidays observed by the Romans from the first of the month to the Ides often reflect their origin as new-year celebrations.[
Julius Caesar
By William Shakespeare
Caesar:
Who is it in the press that calls on me?
I hear a tongue shriller than all the music
Cry "Caesar!" Speak, Caesar is turn'd to hear.
Who is it in the press that calls on me?
I hear a tongue shriller than all the music
Cry "Caesar!" Speak, Caesar is turn'd to hear.
Soothsayer:
Beware the ides of March.
Beware the ides of March.
Caesar:
What man is that?
What man is that?
Brutus:
A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.
A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.

The month of July has an etymology of Julius Caesar's name. And he was a genius in his time, a military genius and also a great statesman/leader. Unfortunately, other corrupted politicians were so fearful of him as he helped the Roman poors and the common folks too much, at the expense of the existing aristocrats. As a result, they gung up and assassinated him. The folks revolted and chased down a few corrupted politicians then killed them for revenge.
ReplyDeleteI see that the same thing is developing in Cambodia. Mr. Hun Sen is the modern day Caesar of Cambodia. He is a great military commander who saved Cambodia from Khmer Rouge and is also a great statesman/leader who takes care of the Cambodian poors and the common folks.
As a result, the corrupted Cambodian politicians just hated him for undermining their chance to rob, steal and abuse the common folks, they gung up against him. Fortunately, these corrupted Cambodian officials are just stupid and incompetent, posing no threat to Mr. Hun Sen.
I am not surprised at all. It's hard to find a smart Khmer now a day. Most intellectual and smart Khmers were murdered by Khmer Rouges. Kem Sokha and Scam Rainsy are total sore-losers, idiots and infantile.

Khmer smart genes have been creamed off so much repeatedly over several hundred years and as recently as 40 years ago under Khmer Rouge regime. As a result, if you do a google image search for: Khmer student, you will see very few Khmer students wearing eyeglasses. Most other countries' students have a much higher ratio of students wearing eyeglasses.
ReplyDeleteKhmer students constantly and frequently rank near the bottom in the world in academics of all fields! I used to tutor the Khmer students in school and was wondering if we were the same human specie! It's like I am a tuna specie and the Khmers are a goldfish specie. That much difference.
For an example: I can comprehend a couple million lines of software codes while a typical Khmer students can only comprehend 10 to 100 lines of codes.

There is an on going horrific rape epidemic happening in Cambodia right now and all countries in the world are staying mum about it. What is wrong? Do you get the priority all wrong?
ReplyDeleteIt has escalated to gang rape for male bonding ritual and now it's escalating to rape and kill. Tens of thousand women are being raped every year in Cambodia. Thousand of women are being murdered after being raped since the rappers did not want the women to live to identify them.
Mr. Hun Sen will protect the women once CNRP is totally defeated. CNRP got very mad at Mr. Hun Sen for protecting young girls from Kem Sokha. If you are taking care of the people, CNRP will attack you.
The logic is simple. If people are protected, happy and with jobs, they will vote for Mr. Hun Sen. Therefore, for CNRP to get power, people must suffer, women will be raped, and the poor will not have jobs so that they will rise up against Mr. Hun Sen.
If not, then CNRP will work with foreign powers to do a regime change. Nothing is for free, so CNRP will promise land, concession, agreement, resource to foreign powers to get the job done. It has been that way for several hundred years. Cambodian Kings and Prices promised Siam and France lands so that they would help them to secure the thrones.
