Despite being well-travelled, Hun Sen displays a selective sense of what is going on around him. Hun Sen claims a $300 monthly income in Cambodia is better than a $3,000 elsewhere. He does not specify where, but he says over there, people cannot live with the $3,000 while Cambodians could do only with 10 percent of that amount in his Land of Wonders. Indeed, one can wonder.

He brags that though Cambodia imports all fuels, its pump price is only 3,670 riels per litre. He ignores that with an exchange rate of 3,980 riels per USD, the $300 could buy only 327 litres of Gasoline 92, even less with Gasoline Super 95. Meanwhile, the $3,000 could get 3,896 litres in the US, or 2,670 litres elsewhere as the world average fuel price is $1.12 per litre. Thus, the $300 in Cambodia have far less purchasing power, especially for imports.

He claims his $300 goes a long way because foodstuffs and consumer goods are cheaper in Cambodia. Perhaps he is right. They are cheap because they are fake. There has been so much of fake products flooding local markets that Sar Kheng is sick and tired of inhaling the smokes when presiding over ceremonies to burn those confiscated.

Yet, there is no relief in sight. Sar Kheng is frustrated that tons of fake products and out-of-date foodstuffs are seized, but none of their owners are apprehended. Most are imports and Hun Sen has recently abolished Camcontrol, which is the authority charged to keep these fake stuffs out of the country. Thus, the fake products will continue to be available and putting at risk the health of the 72% of the population World Bank classifies as poor and near-poor.

Hun Sen is consumed by self-conceit. He challenges earners outside Cambodia to save 90% of their $3,000 income. The only people who could save 90% of their income is the 3% of the Cambodian population that World Bank grades as “prosperous”. This select group is dominated by Hun Sen, his family, and his significant minions whose actual incomes often far exceed their legitimate one.

He is out of touch with low income earners even though he often talks at garment workers. He must know only a few could earn $300 a month by toiling with enormous overtimes in addition to their mandatory 48-hour week that pays a mere $182 a month. Their frequent mass fainting attest to the fact that they may have neither money for nutritional foods nor time for adequate rest. He must know there are over a million Cambodians being forced to take risks working abroad for an average monthly income of $300, leaving behind their young children and family to fend for themselves.

It is shameful Hun Sen continues to exploit cheap labour by lauding fake lifestyles that are detrimental to public health and family development in the long run. He has kept them poor so that they make millions for him, his family, and his minions to enjoy.

Fake News You Can Use

The talk of riel replacing dollar as a main currency in Cambodia has been on and off for ages.

Now, the “who is who” in Cambodia’s financial world describe the riel power in glowing terms. They say the riel lowers production costs, creates jobs, promotes investments and exports, and earns more revenues for the State. Oh, they also say it is about sovereignty and national pride as well. Perfect.

The only thing riel has failed to do so far is to create spine and guts for decision-makers to implement a hara-kiri. Someone in the government knows the currency that has been so far responsible for economic growth and riel stability is the dollar, not the riel, not even the ability of those who run the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Without the US dollar, the riel value will plunge down the drain, taking the whole economy and the Hun Sen government with it. Anyone with brain would trust neither the riel nor those in the Ministry to control and stabilise the riel and thus economy without the US dollar.

That is why after the talks, there is only hot air. The use of riel has plummeted from 46% in 1993 to about 10% in 2013.

“The use of the riel promotes investment and creates jobs. The use of riel will help our country obtain more revenue from issuing the currency.”

National Bank of Cambodia Deputy Governor Neav Chanthana, 26 March 2019, The Phnom Penh Post

“It is about sovereignty – we will have our own currency and it is a source of national pride as well.”

Acleda Bank President and Group Managing Director In Channy, 26 March 2019, The Phnom Penh Post

What a lie, these people worked in Thailand and got paid a lot more than that, 500 - 1000 USD a month. Further more, the Thai people have been killing a lot of Khmers in Thailand's plantations, Thai fishing boats. Many thousand never returned, and the opposition blamed the Vietnamese. What the hell!

Do we ever see the opposition ever blame Thais for mistreating the Khmer? No. Thailand is the patron for their activity. Every time Kem Sokha or his daughters came to Thailand, they stayed in the fancy 5-star hotels costing easily over 100 bucks a night. And Kem Sokha's daughters were wearing 500 USD designer dresses. That was when the average Cambodians were still making 121 bucks a month.

The opposition is so corrupt. They never even condemned Thailand when there was the border fighting over Preah Vihear. In fact, they blamed Vietnam for tricking Cambodia into fighting Thailand, then they also blamed Vietnam for backing Cambodia during the fight.

When Thailand mobilized M60 tanks (60 tons each) to crush the flimsy T54 tanks of Cambodia forces (36 tones), the Vietnamese Prime Minister visit Phnom Penh to sign new economic deals. That's to assure Hun Sen that the Thai armor force threat will be checked.

The opposition went nuts and accused Vietnam of interfering Cambodia's affair, illegally propping up Hun Sen's regime. They wanted to see Thailand armor force to drive straight to Phnom Penh, crushing CPP's force, then invite Sam Rainsy to be the next Prime Minister. Such a treasonous mentality.

In fact, CNRP were cheering Thailand's victory over Cambodian defending forces at Preah Vihear when the news broke out that Cambodian force including Hun Sen's son, Hun Manet (a West Point military trained) were caught in Thai artillery strike. They wish Hun Manet dead in the hospital. Such treasonous.

There are numerous CNRP's supporters calling USA to perform drone strike, cruise missile strike and even nuclear strike against Mr. Hun Sen, then replace him with Sam Rainsy or Kem Sokha. Such treasonous mentality.

Have you watched the video, showing Kem Sokha claiming he has the support, advise and plan from USA to perform a change in regime against Mr. Hun Sen? Can you do with a democratic process, it's called voting? No, CNRP always tried to cheat.

In 2013, CNRP kept trying to prevent the international community to monitor the voting process so that they could cheat. As late as 2018, CNRP ordered Japan to help Sam Rainsy to join the election, if not then Japan is not allowed to monitor the voting.

When asked, "How about CNRP asked the supporters to vote for a smaller opposition party, to win against CPP, Hun Sen's party.", Sam Rainsy answered, "They are all Hun Sen's cronies, only I can rescue Cambodia. Only CNRP is the credible opposition party and no one else. If I am not in the election, then the election is a fraud, and must not be allowed to proceed."

Wow, of course, Japan did not listen to Sam Rainsy. Sam Rainsy threatened to sue Japan for illegally supporting Mr. Hun Sen. He also threatened to sue the ex-president Obama for illegally visiting Cambodia after the 2013 election, "By visiting Cambodia, Obama illegally gave support to a fraud regime under Hun Sen. I am the true Prime Minister elect of Cambodia."

And of course, he sued Chevron, Facebook for illegally cooperating with Mr. Hun Sen... so on and so on. Wow, there are stupid people who continue to support Sam Rainsy. Go to Kimedia blogsite. By now, they got smart and no longer support Sam Rainsy.

Here is my source: "He (Labour Minister Ith Samheng) said that 1.1 million alone worked in Thailand, with a monthly salary average of about $300." See Khmer Times, 29 March 2019.

Of course, the minister could be lying.

    What is your source?

Human rights activist Andy Hall, who recently fled Thailand due to ongoing prosecutions related to his work, said the country had an “endemic” problem. “Not only on fishing boats, but also on poultry farms, on rubber plantations, in large seafood and poultry export factories, as well as in the factories exporting medical supplies like rubber gloves across the world and in the fruit and vegetable export sectors.”

And that is under reported. I read a different source, the average was 45 Cambodians killed a year, and some year the numbered peaked at 65.

Thailand has sent home to Cambodia the bodies of over 500 migrant workers killed in accidents and in fights from 2014 to 2017, a Cambodian government official says.

Believe me, thousand more dead and the bodies were dumped some where in the plantations in Thailand.

The Ministry of Labor announced that, after 420,000 workers were issued legal documents, there are only 10,000 illegal Cambodian workers in Thailand. Thai officials are confident that they too will be registered by the end of June.

Labor Minister Ith Samheng forgot what he said last year and just shit out of his mouth.

Actually CNRP had maps to prove land loss, but refused to show them to United Nations when they came to Phnom Penh to investigate. As a result, CPP used the fake maps to compare with UN and matched.

So far, not one map from CNRP has been post on line, or submitted to any authority. CNRP submitted the map to Sok Touch, but he could not read the file, so after several try and error, people all forgot about it.

Why don't you ask Sok Touch (the CPP's map official) and CNRP what was the result of the comparison? It's all the stupid game. You all have been tricked.

And now, come the Chinese, they blatantly bought all Koh Kong area and Shihanoukvile, and the best land in Phnom Penh. Soon, Khmer locals will be forbidden to go there.
