“The primary hit to growth is from a contraction in tourism… Our baseline assumption is for 2021 visitor arrivals to be about 80 percent below 2019 levels, marking only a marginal recovery from 2020.”

Moody’s Investors Service, 31 March 2021, Khmer Times

For the one who claims he is not worried about Covid-19, Hun Sen’s responses to an intensified community transmission of the virus reveal anything but calm and strategic, especially when infection rate and death toll have begun to take off.

Several key decisions Hun Sen makes to manage the community transmission have largely been on an ad hoc basis. First, he has just set up two new committees to oversee vaccine acquisitions and funding, and inoculations programme. This is about five weeks after the first batch of Sinopharm vaccines landed in February. He must be overwhelmed by Covid to be so ill-prepared.

Second, Hun Sen makes a grandiose announcement that one million doses of vaccines are to be dispensed per month, i.e, 33,330 doses per day. From 11 February when a vaccination began to 16 March, however, his vaccination programme has managed only a daily average of 8,824 doses. He has little hope of closing this huge gap between his words and capability.

Third, he instructs all bodies of Covid-related death be cremated claiming there is insufficient space for burials. He allocates ten hectares of land for cremations for the Phnom Penh region, and further land for regional cremations, as if the 4,932 pagodas throughout Cambodia that usually come with a cremation site each cannot do the jobs. He must be so irresolute that he allows burials 24 hours later.

Indeed, Hun Sen could do with some good news while his vaccination programme is limping. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, not Economy and Finance (MEF), issues a rosy forecast of a GDP growth of 3.5% for 2021. Why does a diplomat, not economist, do the economics work?

This explains why the forecast is more like a public relations exercise: to soften impact of the Covid ferocity. Garment employer group GMAC refuses to endorse a projected 4.6% growth for their industry. Cambodian Logistics Association estimates transport volumes are down about 20% after the February wave. Agriculture Minister Veng Sakhon says export of milled rice in 2021 March quarter drops by a third, compared to 2020 March quarter. Moody has no faith in tourism – another major sector – for a quick recovery. The MEF projects construction and property – two other major sectors – to grow in 2021 by 2.9% and 2.7%, respectively. The expectation is before the February outbreak, which makes the 3.5% GDP growth more unlikely. Meanwhile, nine international business chambers request a delay in lodging 2020 tax returns, which would help ease any pressure on their business cashflows.

Thus, it is clear bewildered Hun Sen has let Cambodia slide into a herd immunity by natural process. This process occurs when Covid-19 is spread, by design or incompetence, to the extent that the virus itself loses its momentum perhaps leaving a small population uninfected. The WHO rejects this natural process as it will put enormous pressure on health system and too many lives at risks. It prefers an effective mass vaccination to achieve the herd immunity, which the Hun Sen programme is failing.

Fake News You Can Trust

A stern commitment to anything is admirable. A possible downside is that the commitment can be so blind that it disorients one to the extent that one can no longer sort the shit from the clay.

Jean Francoise Tan of Radio France Internatinale is totally committed to China; he assumes that benefactor China is inherently stupid in providing all benefits to Cambodia without any return. He also assumes beneficiary Cambodia is smart for securing all benefits without paying any price. Since when has China been stupid in dealing with foreign countries with free lunches? Since when has Cambodia outsmarted their “partners” in their foreign relations?

However, it is useful for Hun Sen to have on his side such committed intellectuals whose thinking is driven by a tunnel vision.

Reddit forum has been deleted my comments about Covid-19 in that last 2 weeks so I am using this low traffic blog as a place to deposit my writing.

Four weeks ago, I got a mysterious, nasty flu which must be Covid. I had 8 symptoms all matched to CDC's info. One as blood clotting. That was the most serious symptom causing me to consider going to the hospital. But I dealt with it.

Drunk extra water. Almost took Aspirin to thin the blood out. Worried about heart-attack after I experience tingling arms, I pounded on my chest powerfully to shake to blood cells apart using shock wave. I gave myself massages on any body part I could reach. Movement was extremely difficult, I could not even stand up straight. Most important at all, I avoided sleeping in long intervals. I slept in multiple chunks of 2 or 4 hours instead to avoid shutting down for too long. Gotta keep the body active and blood pumping.

Further more I stopped eating to deny the virus the food it needs to grow. I did keep up with a little food and full dose of vitamins to allow the productions of the anti-bodies to kill the virus. My symptoms improved within 4 days. Perhaps my immune system defeated Covid in 2 days?

Incidentally eating little reduced the glucose level withing my blood. It reduced the viscosity thus help with the blood clotting situation. With less food, the fight between the virus and the immune system got tamed down, reduced the damage in my body.

I called this Covid virus the Cuckcoo-bird virus. Cuckcoo-birds were observed by the scientists to come back and check their eggs. If the foster birds destroy the Cuckcoo-bird's eggs, then the Cuckcoo-birds will revenge by destroying all remaining eggs. The immune system tries to destroy the Covid virus with the anti-bodies, it also destroy the host body because the anti-bodies also latch to the host body. Covid virus' receptor must be very similar to our body, thus the cross-fire is prevalent and the virus can silently incubate much longer, spread out in the body as well spread to the next person.

In the short fight with the mystery virus, my body was quite damaged. My kidneys were definitely damaged. It's scary to see your urine changed to a milky color. But a couple weeks later my diabetes condition seem to improve a lot. I detected some of my beard white hairs turned black and I collected them for evidence. What worried me the most was the brain damage. I slowly get back my balance and martial arts, but my cognitive was definitely damaged (I run self-test). I hope they all come back.

I had a long misgiving about this Covid vaccination. I don't recall any news in the past having any death due to vaccination. There has been more than 2000 death related to Covid vaccination so far along with thousands severe cases of reactions. Blaming allergic and over-reaction showed that the doctors don't know. The problem as over-dose!

It's obvious to me, "one doses does not fit all." People are big, small, with different immune systems responding with differently speed. The then provoke me into think about vaccination. But I will disclose my anti-cancer immune system which successfully fought Covid.

Covid virus attacked me. My immune system has been roused up for several yeas now to fight cancer. Our bodies always have cancer cells. The older you are, the more cancer cells you have. You need a keen immune system to detect and eliminate these cancer cells.

I have been eating spice to provoke my immune system to fight. I rotate through different spices, usually one at a time (pepper, onions, garlic, ginger, ...) The amount of spice starts out little then increases then I suddenly stop and/or switch to a different spice.

By constantly provoking my immune system, I hope to make it keen and articulate. A good immune system should promptly detect invading virus, and produces articulate anti-bodies too match with the virus. I think the Covid virus happens to resemble our body cells. Anti-bodies are could very well latch to our own body causing our immune systems to attack our own body. Some people have lousy immune systems which produce non-articulate anti-bodies and easily latch to the host bodies.

{I can elaborate more how I arrived to the thinking.)

I would not want to take the Covid vaccine unless my concern about the over-dose is explained. In the past, it was ok to over-dose as other viruses did not induced anti-bodies which latched to the body. Polio vaccine in particular, can last for life. Covid vaccine will not last long even if Covid virus does not mutate. The anti-bodies induced by the vaccine will slowly latch to the host body, we will have to refresh anyway.

Basically, we are slowly destroying our body with Covid vaccine. Perhaps its a good thing. I noticed some of my weaken body's function seem to come back stronger, better. One was my taste bud. During the Covid attack, I lost all taste. Now I crave for tasty food!

The current vaccination is very bad in my opinion. I think that vaccination should start out with small dose then increase over time. I don't want to take one vaccine at once. I can see why J&J vaccine is getting into trouble. But J&J uses the traditional method which I prefer. It just has to be administered in multiple dose over time in the increasing amount.

I understand the other vaccines using the RNA method and I don't like it. (I will elaborate in a different post.)
