UN Special Envoy Angelina Jolie meets 75-year-old grandmother during visit to Thai refugee camp after flying into South-East Asia with her children
Angelina Jolie travelled to Thailand this week on behalf of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The
celebrated actress was in South East Asia on Friday ahead of a visit to
the Ban Mai Nai Soi refugee camp, where she viewed living conditions
and spoke with Karenni refugee Baw Meh.
The
75-year-old recalled how moved to the camp with her husband 18-years
ago, travelling through wild jungle terrain and across winding rivers
with their belongings strapped to their backs.
Special visit: Angelina Jolie meets Karenni refugee Baw Meh at the Ban Mai Nai Soi refugee camp in Thailand on Friday
Situated some two-kilometres from the Thai-Myanmar border, the camp has since served as birthplace for Baw Meh’s grandchildren.
Angelina was fulfilling her
commitments as a UN Special Envoy, a role that led to her being awarded
the title of honorary Dame in the Queen’s birthday honours list.
The title has been awarded in recognition of the actress’s work in the area of conflict sexual crimes.
Committed: Angelina was in Thailand as part of
her role as UN Special Envoy on behalf of the United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
Dedicated: The celebrated actress's tireless
dedication to her role helped win her the accolade of honourary Dame in
the Queen's birthday honours list for her work on conflict sexual crimes
Meanwhile Angelina and
partner Brad Pitt have finally finished work on their Los Angeles home
after making one final addition - a skateboarding park.
Clearly
gunning for coolest parents of the year award, on Thursday the large
structure - which spans almost the length of the property's main house -
was clearly visible.
Whoever amongst their six children - sons
Maddox, 12, Pax, 10, and Knox, 5, and daughters Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8,
and Vivienne, 5 - is an avid skateboarder is very lucky.
Extremer makeover: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
have finally finished work on their Los Angeles, California, compound
and added a skate park
Impressive: The movie stars did not just build a
little skate ramp out the back but a very deep professional grade park
featuring full sized bowl
Got everything: The structure has everything a
skater needs with metal rails to grind on around the bowl's edge, a spot
to just roll in and even a specially designed area with soft padding so
the children can launch themselves off the lip and crash land safely

However, the Jolie Pitt gang will have to wait while Angelina fulfills her commitments for the United Nations.
The
Girl Interrupted star flew into the country early Friday and was seen
with Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne and headed straight for the
refugee settlement.
Will have to wait: The Jolie Pitt gang will not
get to enjoy if for a bit with the family currently in Thailand while
Angelina does some work for the United Nation

When they get home from their important trip, the family will be able to rest up in style at the now complete compound.
Located
in the private and leafy area of Los Feliz, the property was already
pretty impressive before the skate park was installed.
Near
Los Angeles landmark Griffith Park, the 5,338-square-foot property -
which Brad purchased for just $1.7million back in 1994 - has one main
five-bedroom house, as well as several smaller houses the actor has
purchased to join the compound over the years he has been living there.
Nice spot: Located in the private and leafy area
of Los Feliz, the property was already pretty impressive before the
skate park was installed and features a main Japanese-inspired house
plus three other homes
Splish splash: Behind the home are what appears
to be two pools - no doubt one salt and one chlorine - with a smaller
infinity spa
The main house has a Japanese Zen feel to it with a giant stone patio out front and a heavily landscaped garden around it.

While amazing the couple only live at the mansion part time and have other properties in Los Angeles reportedly in Toluca Lake and Malibu.
