មាគ៌ា​ របស់ ​មនុស្ស​សុចរិត ប្រៀប​បី​ ដូច​ជាពន្លឺ ​អរុណរះ, បញ្ចេញ​រស្មី​ កាន់​តែ​ ភ្លឺ​ឡើងៗ

​រហូត​ ដល់​ព្រះ​អាទិត្យ​ ពេញ​កំដៅ។

រីឯ​ ផ្លូវ ​របស់​ ជន​ពាល​វិញ

ប្រៀប​បាន ​នឹង​ភាព ​ងងឹត​ អន្ធការ,

គឺ ​ពួក​គេ​ មិន​អាច ​មើល​ឧបសគ្គ

​ដែល​ធ្វើ ​ឲ្យខ្លួន ​ជំពប់​ដួល​នោះ ​ឃើញ​ឡើយ។

The path of the righteous is like the morning sun,
    shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
    they do not know what makes them stumble.

Authors

“sayings of the wise.”... Solomon’s ability to produce proverbs is specified in 1Ki 4:32, where 3,000 proverbs are attributed to him. Coupled with statements about his unparalleled wisdom...

Date

If Solomon is granted a prominent role in the book, most of Proverbs would stem from the tenth century b.c. [before Christ] during the time of Israel’s united kingdom. The peace and prosperity that characterized that era accord well with the development of reflective wisdom and the production of literary works...

Purpose and Teaching

...According to the prologue (1:1–7), Proverbs was written to give “prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young” (1:4), and to make the wise even wiser (1:5). ...

In any event, the concluding epitomizing of wisdom in the wife of noble character forms a literary frame with the opening discourses, wherewisdom is personified as a woman.
