PHNOM
PENH-- Twenty-five children at a primary school in
southern Cambodia's Takeo province got sick after eating fried rice at a
food stall near the school, local media reported Saturday.
"Twelve
girls and 13 boys began vomiting Friday morning after they ate fried
rice at a food stall," a leading Cambodia Express News website reported,
citing Seng Kimsron, headmaster of Por Ang Primary School, where the
incident happened.
According
to a preliminary check, it was suspected that the fried rice was
contaminated with insecticide as a result of failure to properly clean
vegetables, said the hospital's director, Kong Chankomar.
"It
was likely that the cook did not clean the pesticide- sprayed spinach
properly before making food," he said, adding that the victims were
recovering on Saturday after receiving medical treatment.
