ឆ្នាំ ២០១៥ នេះ ត្រូវ បានអង្គការ សហប្រជាជាតិ ប្រកាស ថា, ជាឆ្នាំ អន្តរជាតិ នៃពន្លឺ។  ការផ្តួចផ្តើម គំនិតនេះ គឺ ដើម្បី ទាញអារម្មណ៍យើង ទៅលើសក្តានុពល នៃបច្ចេកវិទ្យា ផ្អែកលើពន្លឺ ក្នុងការ ដោះស្រាយបញ្ហា ជាច្រើន ក្នុងគោលបំណង ធ្វើឲ្យពិភពលោក ឈានទៅមុខ កាន់តែ ឆាប់ឡើង។  បច្ចេកវិទ្យា ផ្អែកលើពន្លឺ ទាំងនោះ បានបើកផ្លូវ ឲ្យទូរគមនាគមន៍ អន្តរជាតិ រីកចម្រើន យ៉ាងខ្លាំង តាមរយៈប្រព័ន្ធ អ៊ីនធើណេត, បានធ្វើ ឲ្យវេជ្ជសាស្ត្រ មានការ ជឿនលឿន យ៉ាងខ្លាំង តាមរយៈ ការឆ្លុះមើល កោសិកា និងសរីរាង្គ ដោយប្រើ កាំរស្មី ច្រើនយ៉ាង, ហើយ បានជួយជម្រុញ ការអភិវឌ្ឍន៍ ប្រកប ដោយចេរភាព ដោយបានផ្តល់ ដំណោះស្រាយ ចំពោះបញ្ហា ក្នុងវិស័យ ជាច្រើន, ដូចជា៖ វិស័យ ថាមពល, វិស័យ អប់រំ, វិស័យ កសិកម្ម, និងវិស័យ សុខភាព។

ពេលនេះ ជាងពេល មុនៗ ទៅទៀត, ពន្លឺ គឺ ជានិមិត្តរូប នៃវិទ្យាសាស្ត្រ, ចំណេះដឹង, និងបញ្ញាញាណ។  ពន្លឺ នៃបញ្ញាញាណ នេះហើយ ដែលកម្ចាត់ ភាពខ្មៅ ងងឹត, ឧបទ្រព តំណាង ឲ្យភាពល្ងង់ខ្លៅ និងការ រងគ្រោះ របស់មនុស្ស ដោយការជិះជាន់។  សតវត្សរ៍ ពន្លឺបញ្ញាញាណ (សតវត្សរ៍ ទី១៨ នៅទ្វីប អឺរ៉ុប) បានបើកផ្លូវ ឲ្យពិភពលោក ចាប់ផ្តើម ទទួលបាន នូវការគោរព សិទ្ធិមនុស្ស និងលទ្ធិប្រជាធិបតេយ្យ។  ដោយសារ តែ យើង មានជំនឿ លើពន្លឺ នៃបញ្ញាញាណ នេះហើយ បានជាគណបក្ស សង្រេ្គាះជាតិ បានចាប់យក ព្រះអាទិត្យ ជារូបសញ្ញា របស់ខ្លួន។
The UN has proclaimed 2015 as the International Year of Light. The intent is to draw our attention to the problem-solving potential of light-based technologies. These technologies have opened up international communication via the Internet, revolutionized medicine and represent a powerful engine of sustainable development by providing solutions to global challenges in areas as diverse as energy, education, agriculture and health.

Now more than never, light is symbol of science, knowledge and enlightenment, which liberates mankind from the darkness of ignorance and oppression. It was the Age of Enlightenment which opened the way to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the advent of democracy. 2015 a été proclamée comme l’Année Internationale de la Lumière par l’ONU. L’intention est d’attirer notre attention sur la capacité potentielle des technologies basées sur la lumière à résoudre les problèmes de notre temps. Ces technologies ont permis la communication internationale via Internet, révolutionné la médecine (imagerie médicale et lasers) et constituent un moteur puissant du développement durable en aidant à relever des défis mondiaux dans des domaines aussi variés que l'énergie, l'éducation, l'agriculture et la santé.

Maintenant plus que jamais, la lumière symbolise les connaissances, le savoir et l’illumination de l’esprit qui libère l’homme des ténèbres de l’ignorance et de l’oppression. C’est le Siècle des Lumières qui a ouvert la voie aux Droits de l’Homme et à la démocratie. C’est la raison pour laquelle le CNRP (Parti du Salut National) a adopté l’emblème du Soleil.
