Cambodian, Vietnamese PMs inaugurate 2 border markers

Cambodia, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his
Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung inaugurated two border pillars on
Saturday, announcing that 83.2 percent of the shared border has been
demarcated.
The two leaders jointly unveiled the border marker
of northeastern Cambodia's Rattanakiri province and Vietnam's Gia Lai
province, as well as the border pillar of southern Cambodia's Takeo
province and Vietnam's An Giang province.
"The achievements we jointly inaugurate today are a
symbol of close cooperation between the two countries to transform
border area to the potential zone for economics, trade, investment and
tourism," he said.
According to the prime minister, the border marker
in Rattanakiri province is located near the O'Yadaw International
Checkpoint and the border pillar in Takeo province is situated near the
Phnom Den International Checkpoint.
Prime Minister Dung highly spoke of good relations
and cooperation between the two neighbors in all fields, particularly
security, politics, economics, trade, investment and tourism.
"The inauguration of the border markers is a
historical milestone for the two countries, reflecting the high
commitment of leaders of the two countries in building a border of
peace, stability, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development,"
he said.
It was the third time that the two leaders jointly inaugurated border markers. The two neighbors share a 1,270-km border.
