PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) — Cambodia's leader has gone to Singapore for an annual medical checkup, but has pointed out that this doesn't mean he doesn't trust the Cambodian health care system.

In a message on his Facebook page Monday, Prime Minister Hun Sen said he has no critical illness and sought a checkup after spending "day and night" at work, leaving him little time to rest.

Hun Sen said his presence in Singapore doesn't mean "that I do not trust Cambodian physicians." He says it was in fact advised by Singaporean and Cambodian doctors.

Hun Sen has been in office for more than three decades, is known to often boast about his work and achievements.

Thousands of Cambodians travel to neighboring Vietnam and Thailand every year because Cambodia lacks good medical facilities.
