• Left Cambodia for France in 1965 and returned to Cambodia in 1992.

WORKING EXPERIENCE IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR IN FRANCE
• Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DR Gestion, a Paris-based investment company (1988 - 1992).
• Bank Director at Paluel-Marmont, a French bank specialized in financial research and stock investment (1985 - 1988).
• Financial analyst and investment manager at various banks and financial institutions in Paris, including Manufacturers Hanover and Paribas (1971-1985).
POLITICAL CAREER IN CAMBODIA
• Joined the FUNCINPEC Movement at its inception in 1981 by then-Prince Norodom Sihanouk.
• Founding member of the FUNCINPEC Party and member of the FUNCINPEC Party Steering Committee (1992 - 1995).
• Member of the Supreme National Council of Cambodia (1992 - 1993) presided over by then-Prince Norodom Sihanouk, representing Cambodia’s national sovereignty and cooperating with the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC).
• In 1993 the FUNCINPEC Party won the UNTAC-organised national elections, which were the first ever truly democratic elections organised in Cambodia.
• Minister of Finance of the Royal Government of Cambodia (1993 - 1994)
• Elected Member of Parliament for Siem Reap province (1993 - 1998)
• Elected Member of Parliament for Kampong Cham province (since 1998).
• President of the Khmer Nation Party (1995 - 1998)
• President of the Sam Rainsy Party (1998 - 2013), Cambodia’s first parliamentary opposition party, winning 15, 24 and 26 National Assembly seats at successive national elections
• President of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (since 2013) currently controlling 55 seats (out of 123) at the National Assembly
• Minority Leader at the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia (since 2014)
