Moment daredevil skydiver Luke Aikins becomes the first man to jump 25,000ft [7.62 kilometers] from a plane and land safely WITHOUT a parachute

• Luke Aikins jumped 25,000ft from a plane in Simi Valley, California, in the Stride Gum Presents Heaven Sent stunt 
• The skydiver, 42, whose family own Skydive Kapowsin near Tacoma, Washington, has done more than 18,000 jumps and featured in stunts in Ironman 3
• His four-year-old son Logan and his skydiving wife Monica both watched his record-breaking jump which lasted two minutes and he embraced them after he landed
• The stunt was broadcast on live TV and Aikins feared he may have had to wear a chute even if he wasn't to open it as the Screen Actors Guild told him it was a requirement
• However a few minutes before the jump one of the show's hosts said the requirement had been lifted
• After the jump he said on Facebook 'my vision was always proper preparation and that if you train right you can make anything happen'

The jump lasted about two minutes, just before he reached the net he flipped onto his back at the last second and landed perfectly to cheers from those gathered to watch

He hit the 100-by-100-foot [30.48 by 30.48 meter] net perfectly. Just before climbing into a plane, Aikins said the Screen Actors Guilt required him to wear a parachute but he indicated he wouldn't open it. However he ditched it before he jumped out of the plane
