Vietnamese Cultural Week wraps up in Cambodia

The 2016 Vietnamese Cultural Week has recently concluded in Cambodia.
The week, which kicked off on August 26 at the Chaktomuk Hall in Phnom
Penh, provided participants with a deeper understanding of Vietnamese
culture, landscapes and people through a wide battery of artistic
performances and exhibitions.
According to Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism
Dang Thi Bich Lien, the cultural week was one of the crucial events to
execute the two countries’ plan for cooperation in culture and fine arts
in 2012-17.
It was also a chance to boost the two’s bilateral friendship and neighborliness, she added.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on August 26, Cambodian Minister of
Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona expressed her appreciation for
major milestones in cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The minister thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and
Tourism for supporting Cambodia in the construction of several cultural
buildings.
Next year, Vietnam and Cambodia will celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties.
The Vietnamese Cultural Week was organized for the first time in 2010,
with its agenda gradually improved to please participants from both
countries.
The cultural week took place on August 26 and 27 in Phnom Penh, and on August 28 and 29 in Siem Reap.
