Canada’s Wapusk National Park is one of the world’s largest maternity denning areas for polar bears, and Your Shot photographer Daisy Gilardini was there when this playful scene unfolded. “In February 2015, I was on a photo trip to Wapusk to photograph the newborn polar bears coming out of their den for the first time. After waiting for days at temperatures averaging minus 40–50 degrees Celsius, we finally found this mother with two cubs, one of which decided to hitch a ride on mama’s butt.”
