The
Vietnamese mango merchants are hosted by the local authority and police
of Treng Tayeung. According to the moto taxi drivers, they leave every
morning during the mango season at 6 o'clock and come back at 5:30 PM to
stay for the evening with their transporting trucks. Other long-term
residents live in the vast remote orchards already leased by other
Vietnamese, mainly military-age men.
How
many hundreds (thousands?) illegal Vietnamese are quietly (or, now more
audaciously, confidently open) are living in these vast remote orchards?
